CAN’T FIND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR?

We understand what it’s like to know what you want but not be able to find it. If you are searching for something special let the Vintage Fixation team take the hard work out of finding it. Just send us an email with your measurements (Bust, waist and hips) and a description of what you are looking for and we will search the globe using our international contacts.

WHY DO YOU USE INCHES AND NOT CENTIMETRES?

While Australia uses the metric system the Vintage Fixation team prefers using inches for garment measurements. Metrication took place in Australia in the 1970’s and all clothing prior to that (that had a label) is labelled using the imperial system. Over our years of collecting we have become accustomed to using inches. If you would like to convert inches to centimetres here is a handy conversion tool: http://www.inches-to-cm.com/

You will still see centimetres or millimetres used when measuring small items such as earrings.

DISPATCH TIME

We will always endeavour to have your purchase dispatched within 24 hours of receiving payment on week days. If there is a delay for whatever reason, we will contact you.

VINTAGE VS REPRODUCTION

Items are classed as vintage when they are at least 20 years old. Vintage Fixation prefers vintage items from the specific eras of the 40s through to the 70s and will not be selling modern reproduction clothing. However, we will be listing items with descriptions such as 80s does 40s. This is because an 40s style 80s dress is still classed as a vintage garment.

FLAWS & IMPERFECTIONS

The team at Vintage Fixation strive to ensure that every item is described as accurately as possible. While we do not inspect the items with a magnifying glass, we do check every item and photograph any flaws we find.
Please remember that each piece we sell is upwards of 40 years old. They have more often than not been worn previously, and stored in less than desirable circumstances.

Each product will be rated as one of the following:

  • This item is in great condition – There may be an occasional minor flaw. They are not generally noticeable and will not affect you wearing or using the item.
  • This item is in good condition – There are a few minor flaws. They are not generally noticeable and will not affect you wearing or using the item.
  • This item is in moderate condition – There is at least one major flaw. It may be noticeable but will not affect you wearing or using the item.
  • This item is in poor condition – There are a number of major flaws. The flaws are noticeable or they affect you using or wearing the item. These pieces will only ever be listed if they are of serious collector value.

RETURNS

We will NOT accept returns for small imperfections that are hard to see, easy to miss, do not detract or are not visible when worn, that may or may NOT be mentioned in the description such as pinholes, a hanging thread, a faint speck, a tiny fabric or seam split, minute piling, inconspicuous colour fading, missing beads or falling beads, inside issues that are not visible at the exterior, small repairs, etc. We will not accept returns for imperfections that are listed in the item’s description.

We will also not accept returns for fit issues, including if the item is damaged while trying it on. Most vintage clothing can be worn, but there are no guarantees.

We will only accept returns if the item you received is not as described on the site (this excludes slight colour variations and imperfections as described above). If you wish to return a purchase you MUST email us first to obtain confirmation. The cost of postage for returns is the buyer’s responsibility.

FABRIC CONTENT

Most vintage clothing does not have a fabric content tag and as a result it is sometimes necessary for us to make a judgement on the fabric type.

ALTERATIONS & CLEANING

Vintage clothing may require alterations for proper fit (Please do not ask for returns for items that do not fit). Cleaning is buyer’s responsibility. ALL garments should be cleaned before wear. Some items will have been dry cleaned previously but this will not be listed in the item’s description.

IMPORT DUTIES

SALE value is declared in the CUSTOMS Form for International parcels. Any import duties are the buyer’s responsibility and are usually collected by your local CUSTOMS agency upon delivery.
